Baby Showers

Today a dear friend had her surprise baby shower - at the McDonalds - and it was perfect. We played pass the parcel, pin the nappy on the baby and musical statues. Such fun.

The Girls
Baby showers - Ive never really been a fan. Except now - when they are not contrived or engineered, when they are natural and fun and full of light hearted frivolity - then they are super. Ive been to enough to know what I don't like and now Ive found what I do like.

I like lightness, conversation, meeting new people, breaking through the norm, I like sunny afternoons, cool drinks, nice food, laughter and small children running between my legs. Thats what I like.

Keep the formalities and functional bits - lets just have fun!

Yesterday I spent a magickal morning at the Walter Sisulu botanical gardens. I have always loved that place - filled with incredible energy, peace and tranquility.

It would have been nice to sit for a moment and really think in those gardens, but we were there with a mission - to photograph water.

How hard can that be, you may ask - bloody hard is my response. There are so many factors you have to take into play to photograph water, the light, the spray, the movement - and of course your own composition.

I took some lovely pics (just one here) - and I loved being able to see how the picture changed, dependant on the way the water moved, how the sun shon and how the trees swayed.

It made me so aware that in life so many things are perfectly aligned to give us the life we lead, yet at any moment the wind can change, the sun move or the water flow differently, a stone can move - the five elements that are in perfect balance for every situation we are in can change and with that the whole nature of our lives.

Im in the process of plotting out "my amazing future" - an incredible journey I really need to take the time to breathe into and really embrace. Insight and analytics, strategic thinking, new business development - where is my amazing future and what do I need to do to the elements in perfect balance to move me there?

Happy New Year!

2012 has dawned. I had a super relaxed entrance to the year - lots of champagne, good friends, nice conversation and excellent music.

I choose a song each year, the first song that I hear on the radio - as a song for my year.

I dont know what I did, but I cant remember what the song is that I heard first :-) so I have a plan - first song I hear tomorrow will be my track for 2012.

Will keep you posted.

As for resolutions... I need to sit down and really think about those. Not too sure I want to overcommit for 2012 - I really just want this year to be about me, finding out who I am, what I want, where I want to be.

I am looking forward to 2012 - it has a good ring to it and I think it has huge potential :-)
